About Dan Keatings

Welcome to danielkeatings.com – the official website of professional gymnast, Daniel Keatings

Daniel Keatings is a British all-around gymnast who is rapidly changing the face of British gymnastics. At just 20, with strong performances at European and World events, the Scottish born gymnast is perceived as one of Britain’s main hopefuls for a medal in front of a home crowd at the 2012 Olympics.

Dan has represented Scotland as the 2006 Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at both the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2008 Junior European Championships he took the world by storm with an incredible four gold medals including the most prestigious title of junior all-around Champion. Making British history at the 2009 European Championships Dan finished with silver in the men’s all-around final, winning Britain’s first ever all-around medal in a major championship. He went on to write a new chapter for British Gymnastics in 2009 in front of a 10,000 strong home crowd at the World Championships. The event, which was held at the O2 Arena in London, saw Dan rise to the occasion and record a score of 88.925 taking the silver medal. A great experience for a young gymnast who has his sights firmly set on achieving an Olympic medal at that same venue in 2012. 2010 saw Dan make history again when he won Great Britain’s first ever Senior European Championship Gold medal on the pommel horse the day after he helped Great Britain to win a historic silver medal in the team competition.

Sport has always been at the hub of Dan’s life. His Father had wanted him to follow his kickboxing footsteps, but unable to get insurance for 5 year old Dan, he was enrolled into gymnastics to acquire the flexibility needed for kickboxing. Recognising Dan’s talent, his coach swiftly moved him to an Elite facility where Dan entered his first British NDP championships aged nine.

A well-spoken, confident charming young man, Daniel is in an ideal ambassador for his sport and is no stranger to the public spotlight. He always enjoys visits to schools which give him the opportunity to share his experiences and encourage more to get involved in gymnastics. Through a number of ever increasing ambassadorial and media roles Dan is set to raise the profile of British Gymnastics.
